Sound Proofing/Control is simply the amount of sound that escapes from a room or piece of equipment thus limiting privacy for those within a room and/or creating disruptive, damaging, and/or annoying noise for those outside. Sound Control/Proofing is improved by understanding the STC (Sound Transmission Class) and/or IIC (Impact Insulation Class) of various construction and acoustic materials with other considerations such as the type of sound, the type of impact imparted on the floors and/or walls, the sound frequency curve, the shape of the room, and the location of the room or equipment.
Sound Proofing/Control applies to both small and large spaces as well as equipment.
